On Friday at Bellerive Oval in Hobart, Ireland defeated the two-time T20 World champions by nine wickets to qualify for the Super-12 and send the West Indies to the Caribbean.
To knock the West Indies out of the T20 World Cup 2022, explosive batter Paul Stirling scored 66 runs in 48 deliveries to remain unbeaten.
Ireland went all out to chase the goal from the beginning, scoring 64 runs in their powerplay overs. Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie, who opened the inning for Ireland, liked how the West Indian bowlers smashed them across the park.

After being run out for 16 runs in his first over, Akeal Hosein returned in the eighth over to bowl the Irish captain Balbirnie out for 37 runs off 23 deliveries. Before returning to the pavilion, the batter ensured that his team got off to a fast start by putting together a 73-run partnership for the first wicket.
Throughout the entire inning, West Indies were only able to obtain the captain of Ireland's wicket. Lorcan Tucker started at number three and took out the West Indian bowlers in the same way as his captain did.

In the 12th over, Sterling hit his half-century off just 32 balls as he continued his merry way. In the same over, Tucker was caught by Odean Smith, but Smith was called back because he had overstepped, giving the batter a break.
The West Indies' situation deteriorated as both batters attempted to score on the fly, ensuring that the team never recovered.

Stirling and Tucker's batting partnership of 77 runs got Ireland over the finish line. Before that, in a do-or-die situation for the Caribbean team, Brandon King led the West Indies innings to take their team to 146 and set a subpar chase for Ireland.
The West Indies opted to bat first, scoring a boundary in the first over before losing their first wicket in the second. Barry McCarthy gave Kyle Mayers a light dismissal. The Irish bowlers kept the match tight and took wickets at crucial points to prevent the West Indian inning from progressing.
Despite having big hitters in their lineup, the batting appeared to be fragile, with batters losing wickets when the team needed partnerships and failing to make their starts count. The West Indian inning was carried by Brandon King, the only batter who made an effort at the plate and went without a hit. The batter scored the most runs for West Indies, scoring 62.
Ireland's run total was below par thanks to the 34 runs scored by Odean Smith and King in the final three overs. With 19 runs from 11 deliveries, Smith maintained his unbeaten record, while King led his team's batting throughout the innings.
With 3/16 from four overs, Irish bowler Gareth Delany was the best. Brief Rating: West Indies won 146/5 (Brandon King scored 62*, Johnson Charles scored 24; Ireland 150/1 (Paul Sterling 66*, Lorcan Tucker 45*; Gareth Delany 3/16;(ANI) Akeal Hosein 1/38)
