Biography of Nazia Hassan, Pop Singer 

Nazia Hassan, the girl of Arez Hassan, began her profession in music when she was 10 years of age. She proceeded to become quite possibly of the most notable artist in South and Southeast Asia. She proceeded to sell more than 65 million records overall with her sibling, Zoheb Nazia Hassan.

Nazia Hassan was raised in Karachi and London after being born in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. She was the daughter of Muniza Basir, an active social worker, and businessman Basir Hassan. She was Zara Hassan's sister and Zoheb Hassan's sister.

At Richmond American University in London, Nazia Hassan earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and economics. She joined the United Nations Women's International Leadership program as an intern in 1991. She later worked for the Security Council of the United Nations. She earned a Law (LLB) degree from London University.

 

On 30 Walk 1995, Nazia Hassan wedded finance manager Mirza Ishtiaq Baig in Karachi's Islamic wedding service. This took place following her cancer diagnosis. Arez Hassan, their son, was born on April 7, 1997. Ten days before Nazia's death, the marriage came to an end with a divorce. Later, in an interview, her brother Zoheb Hassan said that Nazia had a turbulent personal life and was constantly fighting personal battles. 

Career 

When her musical career began, the singer was only ten years old.

 

In the 1980 Indian film Qurbani, Nazia Hassan made her singing debut with the song "Aap Jaisa Koi." She won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 1981 at the age of 15, becoming the first Pakistani to do so and still the youngest person to ever receive the honor. She was praised for the single. Disco Deewane, her first album, was released in 1981. At the time, it was the best-selling Asian pop record in fourteen countries. The collection incorporated the English language single "Visionary Deewane," which drove her to be the main Pakistani vocalist to come to the English outlines.

After that, Nazia Hassan released the albums Young Tarang in 1984, Hotline in 1987, and Boom Boom in 1982, a portion of which was used as the soundtrack for the movie Star (1982). Her 1992 album Camera Camera was part of a drug-control campaign. She also appeared in several television programs alongside her brother. She co-starred with Sohail Rana, a renowned musician, in the 1988 film Sung Sung. Additionally, Shoaib Mansoor produced the first pop-music stage show, Music '89, which they hosted. The Pakistani pop music scene was shaped in large part by her success. 

Philanthropy 

Nazia Hassan used her skills to help the less fortunate. She worked especially hard for disadvantaged children, young people, and women in Karachi. She upheld the Internal Wheel Club of India and aided raise assets for it. She founded the organization BAN (Battle Against Narcotics) in Pakistan and joined organizations like Voice of Women and the National Youth Organization (Pakistan) actively. She is credited with helping to establish mobile clinics in Lyari Town to make medicine more readily available to those in dire need.

To raise money for children in Tharparkar and Rajasthan, Nazia Hassan collaborated with Javed Jabbar, the former minister of information. She gave talks to the underprivileged about social awareness and went to a lot of schools to give toys to underprivileged children. Nazia Hassan spoke with great affection about all of the schools' love and support at all times. She began working for the United Nations Security Council in New York City's United Nations Headquarters in 1991 and remained there for two years. She offered her services to UNICEF in her third year. She was awarded a scholarship to the Leadership Program at Columbia University for her social and academic achievements. Despite this, she was not able to accept the offer because she was recently diagnosed with cancer. 

Death 

In her final years, Nazia Hassan fought cancer for a long time. She died of lung cancer on August 13, 2000, at the age of 35, in London. When her condition deteriorated, she was admitted to North London Hospice in London three days earlier. It was thought that doctors would let her go home because she had shown signs of a slight recovery the day before she died.

Muniza, her mother, was summoned to the hospital the following day when her daughter began to cough profusely at approximately 9:15 a.m. She passed away quickly. Nazia was buried by Islamic rites at Hendon Cemetery (Muslim Section) in London following a Namaz-e-janaza at Golders Green Crematorium. 

Awards 

In 1980, she won the Filmfare Grant for Best Female Playback Vocalist, and in 1983, she won one more honor in a similar classification.
