Zimbabwe won the T20 World Cup 2022's Super-12 on Friday (October 21) thanks to strong performances from Craig Ervine and Sikandar Raza. They defeated Scotland by five wickets to advance to the tournament's semifinals. With this victory, Zimbabwe has set a T20 World Cup date with Team India for the first time in tournament history.
In the Group B match on Friday (October 21), Craig gave Zimbabwe a solid start with a steady 58 off 54, which was well supported by Sikandar's quick 40 off 23, as they easily overcame the 133-run target with nine balls remaining.
George Munsey had 54 earlier, making Scotland 132 for 6 in 20 overs. Richie Berrington, the captain of Scotland, decided to bat first after winning the toss.
After playing the same number of games in the ongoing T20 World Cup's first round, both teams had two points to their names before the knockout match, but Zimbabwe got two more after beating Scotland to top Group B. Earlier, two-time champions West Indies were eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2022 by Ireland after a massive nine-wicket loss in the other Group B match. The entire nation was around us. The boys got the win they deserved and put in a huge performance to get us through.
"Those innings, I needed Raza to come in and play. I knew we could cross the line if I could steady the ship and Raza could hit. "The assistance given to us has been exceptional. We are looking forward to touring Australia with the support of our supporters following us wherever we go," he continued.
